Interactive Instagram filters for making 6 art house facades come alive

RASKRASIMVSE AR

A collaboration with the RASKRASIMVSE art studio, in which we proposed and developed concepts for bringing the painted by the studio buildings’ facades to life.

The idea of the project is to rethink the familiar landscapes of the uptown of the north, giving them brightness, with the help of a symbiosis of public art and augmented reality.

Our task was to uncloak the idea behind the partners' art objects located on the facades of residential buildings in several Russian cities. The developed concepts worked on the Instagram platform – users of the social network could see animated scenes by clicking on the link to the filter and pointing their smartphone camera at the facade.

Virtual copies of graffiti implemented with the help of SparkAR software were filled with animations and revealed unique plots of the art. Each facade displayed a certain time of the year or the animal world, which in combination with the AR layer created a new beyond-the-real-world experience.

During the development it was important for us to comply with the limitations of the Instagram platform: each filter was optimized for the maximum possible content weight of 4mb.

The industry dictates its trends and in 2021 we decided to apply the latest technologies in our public art industry, add volume and interactivity to our objects, which gave them a new reading. We think it's time for street art to become more alive and real!
